(1) Registration Still Open (Last Chance!)

Registration is still open for some sites. Please register your teams as soon as possible. The deadline for registration is three weeks before the competition date, so be sure to register before then. You can view a list of all the sites and their competitions dates by using the following link: http://robofest.org/GenericSiteWebPage_list_ByDate.jsp?year=2011. Video Submissions must be received by 12:00pm EST on April 2, 2011. Please see the website for the rules governing the Video Submission entries.

(3) NDIA-MI Competitive Scholarship for High School Students

The NDIA (National Defense Industrial Association) Michigan Chapter wants to encourage young people to make better informed career choices involving Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, for the betterment of our country.� The Chapter is committed to supporting formal education in the sciences to ensure a viable workforce in Michigan.� The Chapter desires to award scholarships of up to $2,500 for competitive students currently in or planning to pursue STEM-related disciplines for the 2011-2012 academic year. Applications can be found on the web at http://www.ndia-mich.org/pdfs/scholarship_application.pdf and are due not later than May 16, 2011.� Please submit any questions to: [email protected].

(5) IGVC-MI Site is Open for VCC and nVn Sumo

Registration for the Robofest associate VCC and nVn Sumo competitions during Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition (IGVC) is now open.� The competition will be held on the grounds of Oakland University in Michigan on June 4-5, 2011. Do not dismantle your BTOS game robots! We are planning additional BTOS after-glow competitions at the IGVC-MI site. Questions, contact Dr. Chung at [email protected]

 

(6) Upload Team Photos

When registering your teams be sure to upload a team photo. Photos must be submitted by two weeks prior to your competition date. Like last year, we will be awarding trophies for best team photos for both the senior and junior divisions.

 

(7) Volunteers Needed for Robofest Competitions!

Robofest qualifying competitions are in need of volunteers to staff their events. Please go to to http://admin.robofest.org/ and select a site.� Please click on �New Volunteer Registration.� It requires many volunteers to make competitions go smoothly. Thank you in advance for supporting Robofest!

 

(8) Robofest groups are on FACEBOOK

Join our Robofest Facebook groups "Robofest Coaches" or "Robofest Teams".

-- Robofest Coaches Group: This group is intended for the adult participants: coaches, site hosts, mentors, team sponsors, and volunteers

-- Robofest Teams Group: This group is intended for the student participants; Robofest alumni are welcome to join this group.

Please utilize the discussion tab on our page to ask questions or leave helpful suggestions for others about the competitions. It will allow you to get more instant feedback not only from Robofest staff, but from other coaches and teams who are working through the same problems.

Robofest posters for 2011 are now available on our website. Go to http://www.robofest.net/2011/robofest11poster2.pdf to download yours today! If larger quantities are needed to advertise at your school, place of business, or organization, contact [email protected] for pre-printed copies.
